  • I have been a practitioner of Yoga for 35 years and shifted into the role of teaching in 2007.  I have practiced many styles of Yoga and settled with the approach of B.K.S Iyengar through Australia’s most experienced Yoga teacher: Peter Thomson.  I have been in the Teachers Development Programme with Peter for over 15 years.

I have great passion in working with people with all levels of Yoga experience, from absolute beginners who have difficulty in mobility and/or are dealing with injury, to advanced students who are looking to broaden and deepen their Yoga journey.

  • Iyengar Yoga is a form of yoga that has an emphasis on detail, precision and alignment in the performance of yoga postures (asanas).

The style often makes use of props, such as belts, blocks, and blankets, as aids in performing the asanas. The props enable beginning students, the elderly, or those with physical limitations to perform the asanas correctly, minimising the risk of injury or strain.

It was invented by B.K.S Iyengar, who was an Indian teacher of yoga, an author, and one of the foremost yoga gurus in the world. He founded the style of yoga as exercise, which became known as "Iyengar Yoga".

  • The benefits of Iyengar Yoga are directly related to the approach, time and capacity of everyone.
However, in my experience the physical and mental benefits are:

    • Increased flexibility

    • Increased muscle strength and tone

    • Improved respiration, energy and vitality

    • Maintaining a balanced metabolism

    • Weight reduction

    • Cardio and circulatory health

    • Improved athletic performance

    • Protection from injury

    • Reduction in stress, anxiety and depression

    • Improved sleep, mood and overall wellness
